Durante entrevista, o artista fala sobre a cirurgia que fez para perda de peso e revela que a saúde veio em primeiro lugar. “Comecei em dezembro de 2016. No meio desse ano tive um princípio de infarto, com 32 anos. O médico me disse que eu precisava emagrecer urgente e falou da cirurgia que corta o estômago e liga no intestino”, explica ele, que já perdeu cerca de 50 quilos após o procedimento, somado à dietas, exercícios físicos e ter parado de fumar.
Comediante do ‘A Praça é Nossa’, Matheus lembra do dia que contou para Carlos Alberto da necessidade da cirurgia e ressalta a preocupação que o apresentador demonstrou ter por ele. “Eu estava com medo de emagrecer e perder a graça. Então falei para ele: ‘Sr. Carlos, preciso operar por saúde’. E ele falou: ‘cara, vamos fazer o seguinte, você opera e continua aqui comigo porque prefiro você sem graça aqui, mas vivo”, revive.
Sobre o ofício, ele explica que não virou humorista por opção, mas revela que nunca se adequou à rotina dos trabalhos convencionais. “Nunca gostei de ter horário para entrar, para sair, acordar cedo. E então aconteceu que eu comecei a fazer teatro e não deu certo. Sempre gostei de piadas, tinha o livrinho do Ary Toledo, decorava fácil e sempre contei bem as piadas. O pessoal começou a gostar, com 14 anos criei meu próprio show e então eu falei: ‘vou fazer isso aqui’”, relembra ele, ao explicar como largou o serviço em um açougue para se dedicar à vida de comediante.
Ainda na atração, Matheus fala de seu canal no YouTube, atualmente com mais de 260 mil inscritos, e aceita o desafio proposto pela apresentadora de improvisar um show com a plateia.
