“Falar sobre o Dia do Índio, data comemorativa criada em 1943 pelo presidente Getúlio Vargas, é um tema de muita relevância. Neste dia do ano ocorrem vários eventos dedicados à valorização da cultura indígena. Nas escolas os alunos costumam fazer pesquisas sobre a cultura indígena. Já os museus fazem exposições e os municípios organizam festas comemorativas”, destaca a morena.
Poliana Dandara, que está morando em São paulo há alguns meses em busca do seu sonho e que trabalhou recentemente na Turma da Pakaraka, programa infantil da RedeTV!, afirma que o Dia do Índio deve ser uma data de reflexão.
“Precisamos refletir sobre a importância da preservação dos povos indígenas, da manutenção de suas terras e respeito às suas manifestações culturais. Devemos lembrar também que os índios já habitavam nosso país quando os portugueses aqui chegaram em 1500. Desde esta data, o que vimos foi desrespeito e a diminuição das populações indígenas. Este processo ainda ocorre pois com a mineração e a exploração dos recursos naturais muitos povos indígenas estão perdendo suas terras”, lamenta ela.
