Aos 17 anos criou o projeto “Musica en los Barrios” com o apoio do governo, que ensinava piano para crianças carentes na Nicarágua.
Hoje ele está de volta tocando com profundidade àqueles, que no meio do caos cotidiano, ainda acreditam no amor. Suas músicas possuem inovação através de melodias pop com elementos eletrônicos e do rock nacional, com destaque para o single Star.
Quando foi que sua paixão pela música começou?
Desde que eu me compreendo como gente a música faz parte do meu dia a dia. Minha mãe toca piano e flauta transversal e costumava ensaiar em casa à noite. Assim crescíamos (eu e minha irmã) entre ritmos populares alemães e brasileiros. Aos 8 anos de idade, meu avô materno (alemão) começou a me dar aula de piano erudito; aos 10 anos, entrei no conservatório de piano em Bremen, Alemanha. Sendo assim, sempre usei a música como forma de ver e compreender o mundo, as pessoas e a vida.
O que o fez abandonar o plano de diplomata? Se arrepende de ter largado seu planejamento?
Quando decidi me jogar nesta jornada, eu sabia que o caminho seria árduo e que haveria muitas dificuldades ao longo dele; por outro lado, tive a oportunidade de conhecer pessoas maravilhosas com as quais estou construindo algo que vai além de tudo que imaginava. Agradeço todos os dias por ter a oportunidade de fazer o que eu amo com todo o meu coração. Sendo assim, risquei a palavra “arrependimento” do meu vocabulário e a troquei por uma palavra que me move desde então: “esperança”.
De onda veio a inspiração para suas primeiras musicas aos 8 anos?
A criação de melodias veio como uma sequência natural das minhas primeiras aulas de piano com meu avô. Quando era criança, eu tentava de alguma forma compreender o que estava acontecendo na minha vida: a mudança de país, as dificuldades com a língua (não falava alemão ainda), o abandono por parte do meu pai. O piano chegou a ser um lugar acolhedor onde eu podia me expressar livremente. Não demorou para eu tentar imitar os sons que escutava na rádio. Aos poucos ia desenvolvendo minhas primeiras melodias que, com a ajuda didática do meu avô, transformava em canções.
Qual foi sua preferência para aprender a tocar piano?
Lembro de um episódio peculiar: como minha mãe trabalhava fora de casa, costumávamos almoçar na casa dos meus avós. Depois do almoço, enquanto minha avó lavava a louça, meu avô sentava no piano para tocar as melodias preferidas dela: antigas músicas populares alemães, jazz, swing e um pouco de música erudita. Ela o acompanhava, cantando as melodias a plenos pulmões. Certo dia, eu sentei ao lado do meu avô, admirado com a desenvoltura com a qual ele acariciava as teclas; era um espetáculo que despertava um interesse inexplicável dentro de mim. Queria, desde aquele dia, tocar igual a ele.
De onde surgiu a ideia de criar o projeto “Musica en los Barrios “?
A ONG “Música en los Barrios” foi fundada na Nicarágua nos anos 90 por professoras de música alemães. Ao longo de quase 30 anos, elas criaram uma estrutura admirável, proporcionando um ambiente de aprendizado e paz para as crianças dos bairros mais pobres da capital, Managua. Todo ano, recebem voluntários alemães que trabalham como professores de música para as crianças carentes. Eu decidi me juntar ao projeto porque fiquei fascinado com a ideia de poder ensinar piano para crianças e ainda conhecer um país tão distante e diferente do meu, vivendo assim na pele o significado de que a música transcende qualquer barreira.
O que o fez sair da Alemanha e voltar ao Brasil?
Após entregar o meu TCC na faculdade (em Heidelberg, na Alemanha), embarquei no primeiro voo rumo ao Brasil para ver a Copa do Mundo. Meu plano inicial era de ficar 3 meses, para fazer um estágio no Instituto Goethe, em São Paulo, para depois retornar à Alemanha e dar continuidade à carreira de diplomata. Naquele momento não passava pela minha cabeça que, no decorrer de poucas semanas, iria tomar uma decisão que mudaria minha vida para sempre. Certo dia fui convidado pelo instituto a assistir um show do Gilberto Gil no parque Ibirapuera. Fiquei encantado com a riqueza do repertório, o uso da linguagem musical, o jeito dele se comunicar com a plateia e com os músicos. Naquele momento eu sabia que algo havia mudado nos meus planos de carreira e tomei a decisão que acabou mudando a minha vida: me dedicar inteiramente à música.
Como foi trabalhar com Fred Maran na produção do seu disco?
Procuro sempre trabalhar com pessoas que têm as mesmas ideias que eu tenho e que buscam a mesma essência que eu procuro. Felizmente, tive a sorte de conhecer Fred Maran no início da minha carreira. Um jovem produtor visionário e ambicioso vindo de Maringá (PR), com o plano de montar um escritório artístico em São Paulo. Juntos, enfrentamos o desafio em buscar uma linguagem e um estilo popular sem cair no pasteurizado ou em soluções fáceis. No decorrer de dois anos, a inicial parceria de trabalho solidificou-se ao ponto de tornar-se uma sociedade fixa. Atualmente estamos trabalhando no meu segundo EP, dando continuidade ao desenvolvimento da identidade sonora do projeto “Pedro Blum”.
Como definiria seu estilo musical?
Essa pergunta merece uma resposta mais abrangente, abordada por dois ângulos; Abordagem artística: Faço música popular para corações e mentes jovens. Faço música popular de coração; e com o coração falo da minha cidade (SP), do mundo e das emoções que me movem. A tudo isto se soma o ritmo popular para todos dançarem e se sentirem bem. Procuramos produzir músicas enxutas, precisas, contagiantes, imediatamente assimiláveis e que ainda acabam antes do momento esperado, deixando o ouvinte querendo mais. Abordagem Comercial: no atual cenário musical brasileiro, o estilo popular internacional cantado em português (e assim se distinguindo da própria MPB) é dominado por artistas femininos: Anitta, Pabllo Vittar, IZA, entre outros. Existem vários artistas talentosíssimos e de renome masculinos que fazem um cross-over de estilos, sem situar-se explicitamente no pop, tais como: Luan Santana (vindo do sertanejo), MC Kevinho (vindo do funk), Tiago Iorc (vindo da nova geração de MPB); Nós tentamos entrar nessa brecha. Queremos lançar uma referência masculina explicitamente pop, que consiga trazer para o mercado nacional a linguagem popular das grandes estrelas internacionais, como Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars ou Justin Bieber, sem parecer “fake”, brega ou copiado.
